Description of the Project

There were two parts of this project. For the individual part each stu- dent had to choose from a list of words. Then we used a six by six-flat piece of paper using spacing, sizing, foreground/background, and location of letters on the six by six border to express the meaning of the word of the word we individually chose. We were only limited to using the word itself in only black and white colors. We went through a process of making twenty physical constructions of word. Then we narrowed it down to the top ten and worked on the refinements in Il- lustrator. Finally we narrowed it down again to the top five and made improvements for the final five compositions. In the group part of this project we random choose a word. We were instructed to construct the word that we chose which to be at least two feet high with the materi- als of our choice. Then we were told to travel around campus and fig- ure out which site we should place the constructed letters that would best represent the word.
